About Advanced Technical Services

Advanced Technical Services was established in 2015 when the owner, Allan Gait-Smith, decided to take the leap and become self-employed.

Allan trained as a Pupil Technician with Eskom in the early eighties and qualified as a Mechanical Technician in 1984 with a National Higher Diploma in Engineering.

In 1989 Allan obtained a Government Certificate of Competence (GCC). In South Africa this is required in terms of our Occupational Health and Safety Act for someone accepting responsibility for ensuring the Act is adhered to in factories above 3MW. In terms of the Act all factories must appoint someone in writing for this purpose. This position is referred to as the GMR 2 position, referring to General Machineries Regulations paragraph 2 which stipulates all the requirements for "Supervision of Machinery".

Allan has also self-educated in software development.

Advanced Technical Services can offer a range of Engineering Services and Consultation. This includes Engineering Manufacturing, Maintenance and Design.

We can also offer CNC Programming Services.

We also offer a Management Accounting Software package aimed at the Engineering Industry. This Software is sold as subscription based with pricing dependent on the number of users required. The software is Windows based and is LAN and multi-user enabled.

Allan has worked in factory maintenance in the Power, Dairy, Tyre, and Rubber Industries.
He has also worked in the Engineering Industry involved in general engineering as well as specialized Tyre Industry Equipment manufaturing.
